This verse indicates the powers of the Apostles/Bishops were equivalent to that of Christ: they could “cast out demons”, or in other words, eject rebellious Romans. Some of the earlier text about Jesus Anointed indicated that he would convince people of the error of their ways, but here it seems a lot more action-oriented.
